Center Court: Make the Mall your one stop shop for Halloween

All News

According to the NRF’s annual survey results released in early October, Americans are expected to spend $9 billion by the end of the Halloween season, the second highest Halloween spending seen post-recession. Celebrants plan to purchase everything from decorations to candy to costumes (even for beloved pets). Retailers of all stripes are prepared for the demand, with a wide selection of Halloween-inspired offerings, and PREIT malls have everything shoppers need for a convenient destination for Halloween celebrations.

A variety of our tenants, including Spirit Halloween at Cumberland Mall, Plymouth Meeting Mall, Exton Mall and Moorestown Mall, and Halloween Express at Valley View Mall are stocked with makeup, costumes, and seasonal accessories. For shoppers with a creative style, consumers can check out off-price retailers, such as T.J. Maxx at MPG, fast-fashion stores – including Forever21, H&M, Primark and Zara – and specialty shops for unique DIY costumes and party décor.

Beyond shopping for Halloween haul, shoppers can also visit PREIT malls this month for community Halloween activities.

  • Moorestown Mall is hosting “Thriller Night” on October 19, featuring an outdoor “Trunk or Treat,” a screening of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” a live reenactment of “Thriller” and take-out specials from featured restaurants,

  • Two malls are also offering safe, free trick-or-treating experiences. At MPG’s “Tots2Tweens Malloween” on October 24 and Valley Mall’s “Malloween” on October 25, vendors inside the mall will be handing out treats for all trick-or-treating in costume.
  • Springfield Town Center is hosting its annual “Halloween Boo Bash” on October 27, with this year’s witchin’ theme “Hocus Pocus.” Families are invited to a trunk-or-treat event with live entertainment, crafts and of course a special appearances by the Sanderson Sisters.

Retailers across our properties are also joining in on the Halloween spirit. LEGOLAND Discovery Center at the Plymouth Meeting Mall is hosting “Brick-or-Treat” weekends throughout the month of October. The events include a scary scavenger hunt, a LEGO pumpkin build challenge and pumpkin patch display, Halloween mini-mosaics in the Creative Workshop and themed minifigure trading.

For the budding artists in your family, join Maggiano’s Little Italy at Springfield Town Center as they host “Paint a Pumpkin” on October 13. And in Hagerstown Maryland, bran new department store, Belk, invites you to join them for their Fall Festival on October 20 at Valley Mall. A community event offering food trucks, face painting, bobbing for apples, an inflatable moon bounce, pumpkin painting and more, it’s the perfect way to spend a fall Saturday with the family!
