General Policy on Equal Opportunity Employment
PREIT is committed to equal employment opportunity and to attracting and retaining the most qualified employees, regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, religion, creed, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, domestic partnership status, age, physical or mental disability, military status, veteran status, genetic information or family medical history, or characteristic or activity protected by federal, state, or local law (“Protected Status”).

“Equal opportunity” refers to all aspects of employment, including recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, promotions, transfers, training, discipline, discharge and other terms and conditions of employment, as well as the overall working environment for our employees. We will not engage in or tolerate unlawful discrimination (including any form of unlawful harassment) on account of a person’s protected status).

Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation
The Company will not tolerate any behavior that constitutes or contributes to unlawful discrimination, harassment, or retaliation on account of a person’s Protected Status. Violation of this policy may result in discipline up to and including discharge.

For purposes of this Policy, harassment means unwelcome verbal, visual or physical conduct or contact, comments, communications or treatment of a discriminatory nature about, relating to or because of a person’s Protected Status that has the purpose or effect of unduly interfering with an individual’s work performance, creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment, or otherwise adversely affects an individual’s employment opportunities.

Examples of harassment include, but are not limited to: making inappropriate or offensive jokes or remarks relating to a person’s Protected Status orally, in writing, using email, texting or other method of communication to disseminate such jokes or remarks, knowingly accessing such offensive material using Company equipment, or distributing such jokes or remarks, whether received from others outside the Company or otherwise.

Sexual harassment is a form of illegal sex discrimination that the Company prohibits and will not tolerate. “Sexual harassment” refers to unwelcome sexual attention, sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, verbal, visual or physical comments, conduct, or contact of a sexual nature, or other offensive behavior of a sexual nature when:

  • Submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of a person’s employment;
  • Submission to or rejection of such conduct by a person is used as the basis for employment decisions such as position, pay, promotion, training or assignment; or
  • The conduct has the purpose or effect of unduly interfering with a person’s work performance, creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment, or otherwise adversely affects a person’s employment opportunities.

Examples of sexual harassment include, but are not limited to: unwelcome comments about a person’s appearance, obscene or sexually suggestive humor or behavior, including staring or ogling, unwanted physical contact beyond that which is reasonably incidental and acceptable in the workplace, use of offensive sexually explicit or sexually suggestive comments or gestures, display of offensive sexually suggestive objects or pictures, unwelcome sexual advances, express or implied threats of adverse employment actions, or withholding of advantageous employment actions, if sexual favors are not granted, and express or implied promises of preferential treatment in return for sexual favors. Sexual harassment does not, however, refer to occasional compliments of a socially acceptable nature.

Company Training
At PREIT, we pursue our business objectives with integrity, trust and respect and operate in full compliance of all applicable laws and regulations Company policies apply to all employees and work environments. In view of our commitment, we require that all employees complete web-based training courses, which are designed to increase your awareness and knowledge of applicable laws and how they may impact your current job responsibilities.

PREIT maintains a learning management system (PREIT Learning) and employees regularly required to take classes on topics such as Cybersecurity Awareness; Workplace Anti-Harassment Training; Anti-Money Laundering Training; and other compliance and job-related topics.  New training modules are deployed several times a year.
